Tagalog Vowel Sounds



As posted above, Tagalog has 5 basic vowel letters:  a, e, i, o, u.  They are sounded as indicated:  /a/ - is sounded as a in half; /e/ is sounded as e in egg; /i/ is sounded as i in igloo; /o/ as in o in octopus; /u/ as in ew in chew and oo in wood.


 Here are some words you can practice:

 Father              -            ama
 Duck               -            bibe
 One                 -            isa
 Bear                -            oso
 Purple yam      -            ube
